Greeting the World with Joy

Which moments make Taiwan unforgettable for global travelers? Is it the kind smiles, the warm multilingual greetings, or the unexpected creativity to be found in the streets? To promote Taiwan’s local culture, EVERRICH collaborated with the Chinese character artist Lin Kuo-ching to launch the “Flipped Joy Series” co-branded tote bags and embroidered patches—specially designed keepsakes that distill the warmth, creativity, and good wishes of Taiwan into visually-pleasing and meaningful items travelers can take with them wherever they go.

Design Concept: From “Hello” to “Joy” — Language as a Blessing

When the words “Hello Taiwan” are rotated 90 degrees clockwise, the Chinese characters for “joy” are revealed—a creative fusion of traditional calligraphy and modern design that showcases Taiwan’s unique culture. “Hello” isn’t just a greeting—it’s the opening line of culture. “Joy” isn’t just a word—it’s a heartfelt blessing. The design incorporates greetings in multiple languages, symbolizing Taiwan’s warm and inclusive spirit as it welcomes travelers from around the world.

About the Artist｜Lin Kuo-ching, a master of flipped Chinese characters

Known as a “magician of words” and “the Second Cangjie,” Lin Kuo-ching created the “Hello Taiwan” flipped character system in 2007, pioneering the trend of two-way typography. To date, he has designed over 2,000 sets of flipped characters. He discovered the limitless possibilities that emerge when text is viewed from different angles—finding new meanings and new ways of reading through the act of flipping or transforming words to express himself.
