EVERRICH and Taoyuan International Airport Elevate the Passenger Experience in a Post-Pandemic Era

2025.06.25

After weathering the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and a shifting global market, EVERRICH Duty Free Shop has completed a five-year upgrade project—entirely self-funded and without government subsidies. The “ROT Bidding Project for Area C of the Restricted Zone in Terminal 2 at Taoyuan International Airport (桃園國際機場第二航廈管制區C區綜合免稅店ROT招商案)” strengthens Taiwan’s international gateway and redefines the airport’s global competitiveness. Centered around a “humanities-first” approach, the project enhances three core areas of the traveler experience: duty-free shopping, dining, and public services. As a model for private-sector participation in public infrastructure, the project has transformed Taoyuan International Airport into one of the world’s leading cultural airports, infusing Taiwan’s primary international gateway with renewed energy and vision.

Expanding Brands and Gourmet Options with a Commitment to Sustainability

With the theme “Marketing Taiwan, Connecting the World - Inspiring the Heart,” EVERRICH has revitalized Area C of Terminal 2’s restricted zone. Key highlights include a museum shop offering cultural and creative goods from over 10 major Taiwanese museums, including the National Palace Museum and the National Museum of History; A liquor pavilion featuring iconic Taiwanese spirits such as Kinmen Kaoliang and OMAR whisky; A toy store curated with over 20 popular global brands, including POP MART and JELLYCAT; A dual-operation dining model combining EVERRICH’s own food services and selected external vendors, bringing in Michelin-recommended restaurants like Moonmoon Food and Wang’s Broth; Ten redesigned waiting lounges blending interactive AI features with local culture, such as the “Wandering the Island Lounge,” which captures the spirit of Taiwan’s six major outlying islands, and the “Formosa Culture Lounge,” themed around Indigenous, Hakka, and Minnan heritage. In alignment with global sustainability efforts, EVERRICH also created the “Radiant Glass Bead Experience Pool” using 6.5 tons of recycled glass, underscoring its commitment to circular green and sustainable practices. The company’s long-standing dedication to promoting Taiwanese culture has been recognized by the General Association of Chinese Culture (GACC).

Resilience Amid the Pandemic - A Testament to Public-Private Collaboration

Amid fierce global competition, EVERRICH won the bid for this project in 2018 and began implementation in 2019. During the execution period, the COVID-19 pandemic posed an unprecedented challenge. To uphold Taiwan’s image as an international gateway and ensure uninterrupted airport operations, EVERRICH remained committed to its responsibilities, refusing to lay off staff or cut salaries, while maintaining both service quality and employee livelihoods. In the face of such a force majeure event and rapidly changing conditions, EVERRICH, a key partner in the airport alliance, responded with integrity and proactive measures. Once pandemic restrictions were lifted in 2022, the company swiftly allocated resources and worked around the clock to overcome construction challenges. The project’s progress has been made possible through the full support of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Taoyuan International Airport Corporation, and other related agencies, together embodying the spirit of Public-Private Partnership (PPP). Completion is expected in 2025.

Three Decades of Dedication - Unwavering Commitment Through Change

With over 30 years of experience in the duty-free industry, EVERRICH has remained true to its founding principles of integrity, professionalism, innovation, and philanthropy. Guided by a mission to serve the public and benefit the greater good, this project was designed with a traveler-centric approach—blending cultural sensitivity, advanced technology, and local heritage. As the world continues to evolve rapidly, EVERRICH stays committed to excellence in every detail. Through tangible action, it aims to raise the overall service quality and global standing of Taoyuan International Airport, helping establish Taiwan’s primary gateway as a world-class, culturally driven hub of international competitiveness.
