Let the World See Taiwan’s Focus: From Sports, Art and Culture to Esports, EVERRICH Brings Esports to the Airport Departure Lounge for the First Time

Taoyuan International Airport is not only the starting point for travelers embarking on their journeys, but also an important gateway through which the world can discover Taiwan. The EVERRICH Foundation, which has long promoted art, culture and sports, is presenting the “Let the World See Taiwan’s Focus” Esports Exhibition at Taoyuan International Airport for the first time, in collaboration with the Chinese Taipei Esports Association. Running through March 15 next year, the exhibition features medals from international esports competitions and Taiwan-made esports equipment, allowing travelers to gain a close-up look at Taiwan’s esports capabilities. Through the airport as an international gateway, the exhibition continues to connect sports, culture and international exchange, while showing support for Taiwan’s national esports team as it prepares to compete at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.
 

The 2026 Asian Games will take place in Nagoya, Japan, this September. Taiwan will compete in seven esports events with a team of 33 athletes. The exhibition opening ceremony was held on August 26 at the Sports Glory Lounge, Gate B9, Terminal 1 of Taoyuan International Airport. Attending the ceremony were Fang Jui-wen, Director-General of the Sports for All Agency under the Ministry of Sports; Yu Chung-li, Deputy General Manager of Taoyuan International Airport Corporation; Kevin Chiang, General Manager of EVERRICH Duty Free; Yu Chin-liang, Secretary General of the Chinese Taipei Esports Association; Chiang Yin-han, General Manager of the Open Platform and AIoT Business Unit at ASUS; Asian Games representative athlete Chen Yu-kang; and former medal-winning athletes Chu Chun-lan, Lin Chun-hsi, Hu Shuo-chieh, Huang Yu-hsiang and Tsai Kai-cheng.
 

Eighteen-year-old rising star Chen Yu-kang will represent Taiwan in *Street Fighter 6* in the Martial Arts category at the Asian Games. Now entering the final stage of his preparations, Chen said that he is analyzing his upcoming opponents based on the competition schedule, studying their frequently used characters, playing styles and match habits, and conducting corresponding tactical training. He looks forward to doing his best and bringing glory to Taiwan. Hu Shuo-chieh, who retired last year after winning a silver medal in *League of Legends* at the Hangzhou Asian Games, served as a guide at the exhibition, introducing guests to esports competitions and sharing his experiences from past events.
 

Taiwanese esports athletes have achieved outstanding results in international competitions in recent years, while esports brands from Taiwan account for 45% of the global market. Kevin Chiang, General Manager of EVERRICH Duty Free, said that the exhibition not only promotes esports, but also continues EVERRICH’s long-standing commitment to organizing more than a hundred events and exhibitions every year. EVERRICH has consistently used its gateway locations to promote sports, art, local culture and Taiwanese cuisine. The Sports Glory Lounge has previously featured exhibitions themed around the World University Games, Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. EVERRICH hopes the exhibition will enable domestic and international travelers to gain a better understanding of Taiwan’s esports development, while also extending Taiwan’s sports strengths to tourism promotion and international exchange, allowing more travelers to discover the vitality and capabilities of Taiwan’s esports sector.
 

To support the development of esports and digital sports, the Ministry of Sports has planned to allocate a budget of NT$30 million next year to support the development of the esports industry. Fang Jui-wen said that the Ministry hopes to continuously strengthen Taiwan’s competitiveness in esports through talent development, industry promotion and related activities. He also wished the athletes the best as they strive for outstanding results on the international stage. Yu Chung-li said that many outstanding Taiwanese athletes have made their mark in international competitions. As a gateway connecting Taiwan with the world, Taoyuan International Airport looks forward to enabling more domestic and international travelers to see Taiwan’s sporting achievements through sports exhibitions at the airport.

Esports competitions at the 2026 Asian Games will take place from September 23 to October 2 at the Aichi-Nagoya International Exhibition Center in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. A total of 11 medal events will be contested. Taiwan will participate in *League of Legends, PUBG MOBILE, Pokémon UNITE, Naraka: Bladepoint, Identity V, Puyo Puyo* and *Street Fighter 6*, sending a team of 33 athletes and seven coaches, for a total delegation of 40 members. This makes the esports delegation second only to athletics in size among Taiwan’s participating teams.
