A World of Art Inside the Lion Head

This exhibition is presented as part of the EVERRICH Arts Festival (昇恆昌藝術季) and centers on the theme “A World of Art Inside the Lion Head,” showcasing the lion head culture of central Taiwan. The exhibition features works by Shun-jung Shih, founder of the Lukang Decorative Lion Head (鹿港花獅), inviting visitors to step into the world of lion head artistry and glimpse the artistic universe he has created.

With unwavering passion, Shun-jung Shih has been making lion heads for over 40 years. He was awarded the First Taiwan Provincial Award for Outstanding Cultural and Artistic Achievement (第一屆臺灣省特殊優良文化藝術獎) and recognized as a Traditional Artisan by Changhua County (彰化縣傳統藝師匠師認證). Shun-jung Shih has been deeply dedicated to the teaching and preservation of lion head craftsmanship. Since 2002, he has been leading workshops on Min-style lion masks at the National Changhua Living Art Center, a commitment he has continued for over 23 years. In 2012, he also began serving as the advisor for the Traditional Arts-Lion Head Craft Club (傳統藝術-獅頭創作社社團) at Lukang Junior High School in Changhua, helping students blend contemporary creativity with the proud spirit of craftsmanship and traditional techniques to ensure the continuation of this artisanal heritage.
